A GREENHOUSE UNION OF LOVE AT THE GRASS ROOM
In the heart of Los Angeles, amidst the sprawling cityscape in a beautiful greenhouse at Grass Room, Ellyn and Elyse celebrated their love in a wedding that was as unique and vibrant as they are. Their celebration stood out for its personal touches, words of wisdom, and unmistakable joy.
Ellyn and Elyse’s story began after they swiped through countless profiles and navigated the challenges of dating during a pandemic. Their paths finally intersected on Hinge. The couple enjoyed brunch as the first date once restaurants were allowed to serve sit-down dining. With the pandemic allowing them to work from home, the two were able to enjoy each other’s company with a slower-paced life. They enjoyed lunch dates and coffee breaks together. They navigated moving into together and introducing their cats to one another. Ellyn spontaneously decided to pop the question to Elyse in the kitchen of their home while cooking dinner. Then Elyse proposed to Ellyn after dinner.
For Elyse and Ellyn, their wedding planning journey was guided by one simple principle: authenticity. Rather than conforming to traditional expectations, they sought to create a celebration that truly reflected their unique connection and values. Every decision, from a personalized ceremony to crafting their own last name, was made with intention.
When it came to their attire, Ellyn collaborated with a tailor to create a custom one-of-a-kind outfit complete with a cape, which took inspiration from her mother’s wedding dress. Elyse incorporated lace to create a cohesive look between the two of them.
The couple asked their friend to officiate their wedding with a prom-style banner. The couple encouraged Patrick to make the ceremony his own, and he exceeded their expectations. Elyse and Ellyn said, “We felt seen, and he captivated the tone amazingly for the rest of the celebration. After the Grass Room ceremony, he gifted us his notecards.
From custom attire inspired by family legacies to a delectable menu featuring falafel sliders and Moroccan chicken, every detail of their wedding day was a testament to their shared vision and creativity. DIY touches, including Trader Joe's flower bouquets and handcrafted décor, added a personal flair to the celebration.
Their wedding day was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments. From the heartwarming presence of family and friends, including Ellyn's sister and brother-in-law, who traveled from South Korea, to the infectious energy of the dance floor, every detail was infused with love and meaning.
The couple wanted to create their own last name by combining letters from their first and last names to create a unique identity for themselves as a couple. No one knew the couple’s last name until the reception, where it was revealed on a large screen. They played into the anticipation by having their guests submit last names.
When it came to a sweet way to end their dinner, they knew they didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, so they opted for a variety of desserts, one of their favorites being the coco loco cookies!
