A BOHO BOTANICAL WEDDING IN HIGHLAND PARK

Jorie and Devin decided to host their wedding in Highland Park because, well, it’s where they met, fell in love, and called home. Picking a date closest to their actual anniversary, they wanted to stay wholly authentic to themselves and create a relaxed, modern botanical wedding with flares of tradition. This Highland Park venue offered the perfect backdrop for their botanical boho wedding. Focusing on ferns, wildflowers, pompous grass, and tropical leaves brings about a unique botanical ceremony. They also reinvented traditions to create space that captured their spirit, style, and soul.

Jorie and Devin met one random spring night while out on the town with a mutual group of friends. They spent the entire night talking to each other but fell back out of each other’s lives for several months until that fall. After hanging out and building a true friendship, they were both so nervous about opening up about how they truly felt about one another, but eventually, they couldn't help but take the plunge. Four years later, Devin proposed during a home-cooked meal on their anniversary.

I am obsessed with Jorie and Devin’s wedding style. His sleek teal tux was perfectly fitted, with a crisp white shirt, jade cuff links, and a rudraksha necklace. Her Dreamers + Lovers gown featured beautiful crochet lace with a jaw-dropping back paired with a stunning boho bouquet featuring protea, golden rain tree pods, bleached ruscus, dahlias, and ranunculus blooms really adds to the botanical wedding vibe.

Jorie’s father had passed away, and Jorie was planning to walk down the aisle by herself. Together with Jessica from Art and Soul Events, they came up with a beautiful plan for Devin to walk down the aisle first, followed by his parents and then Jorie’s mother and grandmother. When it was time for the bridal processional, Jorie walked out onto the deck and about 1/3 of the way by herself, and then Devin walked back up the aisle to meet her. They walked to the altar holding hands together - such a touching way to begin a beautiful ceremony.

Let’s Get Married by Marie officiated the ceremony that honored their individual lives and their journey together. Jorie + Devin personalized the ceremony by adding little flares of culture and tradition from both sides, such as blessings from their parents and a moment of recognition for our family members that could not be there with us.

Devin and Jorie are both a couple of Los Angeles transplants. Jorie moved to work in the nonprofit sector as she is passionate about uplifting underprivileged communities. Devin moved to work in film and entertainment, hoping to add to a more diverse storytelling perspective.

Jorie and Devin focused on making sure everything they did or didn’t do, in terms of tradition, was wholly authentic to them. They wanted to make sure they put together an intimate party that reflected them.

Art and Soul Events designed a modern tablescape with unique clusters of plants and vases, creating an eclectic and global feel. Fundamental LA provided the perfect blend of dishes that fused Jorie and Devin’s Indian and Middle Eastern backgrounds. Love the mixing of geometric patterns with intimate table centerpieces, creating a fresh take on the boho wedding reception. Foxtail florals perfectly mixes fresh and dried florals for that relaxed boho botanical vibe!

THIS GRAND ENTRANCE IS STRAIGHT-UP FIRE!

First Dance
“Harvest Moon” by Neil Young

Loving this dance floor energy! Guests lifted the groom and bride up on their shoulders during this epic dance party!

Jorie and Devin’s advice to couples planning is really more of a reminder that weddings get very expensive, very fast. Don't bother to do or purchase anything that isn't authentic to you as a couple!
